I was a little skeptical about buying a “b-stock” item because it says the box is damaged in some way.
I eventually ordered the item with free shipping and it took a little over a week to have it delivered to me
(can’t complain; it’s free shipping after all). As I carefully opened the box, I realized the so-called “b-stock”
item looked like it was brand new. What a great deal. For those who are wondering if the package includes
a hdmi cable, it doesn’t. So, I bought a hdmi cable so I could plug the vado directly into my hdtv.
I took a couple of test shots around my home then plugged the Vado into my hdtv. The quality was great.
Transferring the video files to my pc was a breeze. The quality looked clear and crisp on my 22″ monitor.

I first read about this flat iron in Good Housekeeping magazine.
They claimed that it performed at 100% in all of their testing.
They put hair samples in a humidity controlled room for 15 hours
and measured the frizz among samples treated with frizz serum
and a regular flat iron and this iron with no product. This product by
itself won by far. That was quite impressive so I decdided to give it a try.
I bought mine at Target for $49.99.

First, let me say that I have very fine textured hair that is a little
below my shoulders so it is pretty easy to straighten with any flat iron.
My trouble has been that after an hour (even with product & hairspray)
it will become wavy again. There was definitely a noticeable
difference using this tool. My hair did not frizz and stayed much
straighter for a longer periid of time.

Also worth noting, it heats up in about 60 seconds and beeps to
let you know it has reached the desired setting. You have to
hold the power button down for a few seconds to turn it off which
is helpful because I was always accidentally hitting it while straightening
my hair on my old iron. Another plus, the heating plate rocks so that you
don’t snag pieces of your hair.

The Original InStyler Rotating Hot Iron

*It is loud – Since it has a motor, it is not silent like the infomercials imply.
Although it is a bit noisy, it is not loud enough to bother me.
*It burns – It does get HOT, even on the lowest setting and,
yes, if you touch it you will get burned like with any other hair iron.
You will probably get scorched a time or two or three…, as I did,
especially when getting used to it. Be careful!
*It only rotates in one direction – This is true and it takes time to get used to.
I have learned to use both my left and right hands to straighten my hair in the direction of the rotation.
I slowed down a segment in the infomercial and one model smoothed her hair against the rotation.
It turned out great, so I guess it’s okay but I haven’t tried it myself.
*It doesn’t work on very short hair – This styler works wonders on my medium length hair but I
cannot use it on my 2 inch long bangs. It makes them stick out weird. Based on that,
I don’t think those with very short hair would benefit from it unless they come out with a smaller barrel.
*Hair gets stuck in the barrel – This has never happened to me and I use it almost every day.
*Hair gets damaged – Most hot tools will cause some type of damage to hair.
Although my hair does seem a little drier because I use the styler so often,
my hairstylist says it is still healthy. I use conditioner and thermal spray to minimize damage.

While not perfect, this is the best styler I’ve ever used, hence the 5 stars.
I am even getting one for my sister.

ASUS Republic of Gamers G51JX-X3 15.6-Inch Gaming Laptop

I just got this laptop yesterday, and I’m truly amazed at the gaming capabilities. So far I’ve played League of legends and Audiosurf both on the highest setting possible with practically no stuttering. The framerate in League of Legends stays at about a constant 50fps, however I did notice that while I tried playing winamp and LoL at the same time the game stuttered a little. This is no big deal, but it probably has to do with the 4GB of RAM, which can be upgraded to 8GB if desired. The laptop did come with a bunch of bloatware, but this was no biggie, I just went to this website ([...]) to find out what’s safe to uninstall and what I should keep. I took me a couple of hours to get rid of all the unnecessary programs, and I did have to install some new drivers for the video card to play Audiosurf, but again, it’s no big deal. The back of the screen panel lights up which looks kinda neat, but I don’t really care about the looks as much as the performance. The keyboard also lights up with is nice for gaming in the dark. The keyboard is a little bit flimsy which may cause some problems in the future but I don’t really think it will. I don’t use the mousepad and I don’t recommend you do because the buttons are kind of hard to push down, which could be annoying if your playing a game. The vent on the side of the laptop get’s kinda warm, and I’ve read a few reviews about this laptop overheating, but the laptop comes with a program that lets you see your core temp, cpu speed, and cpu fan speed. It will also alert you if the temperature get’s too hot. Overall I am very happy with this buy, it was definitely worth the money, the only laptop I would recommend more for the same price ($999.99) is the Asus G72GX-RBBX05 ([...]), which has a slightly better video card (an nVIDIA GeForce 260m as opposed to an nVIDIA GeForce 360m). It also comes with 6GB as opposed to 4GB of RAM. The only downside to the Asus G72GX-RBBX05 is the processor which is an older intel core 2 (2.53Ghz), while this laptop comes with a newer intel core i5 (2.26GHz) it still turbo-boosts up to 2.53GHz. However it was performance rated at 4.313Ghz ([...]).

So after much debate I ended up picking up one of these little guys at a local retailer in the Bay Area. I’m gonna say that so far I’m completely satisfied with the amount of money I spent on it. Its lightweight, seems pretty durable and is super easy to use. The slider switch is kinda stiff to the ungloved hand, but with a gloved hand the added traction causes it to operate with no hesitation. I use it for motorcycling. The flat surface mount works great so far on my helmet (a slight curvature of the helmet) just have to find the ‘sweet spot’ to stick it in. typically this will also result in a good forward facing attitude/angle, the camera is seeing what you’re seeing. Video quality is superb, no complaints. It really is as good as they’re saying it is, most of the other reviews i’ve read seem to amplify the negative qualities. the fisheye effect at 135 degree field of view is really not noticeable unless you get right up on something then it’ll distort but other than that, its rather pleasant and easy to watch. recording at 1080p you have a 110 degree field of view. I have noticed that when you point the camera directly at the sun it causes a vertical strip to appear… some sorta digital artifact due to being pointed directly at the sun, but other than that there is no lens flare or ghosting. at it only really occurs when you have the sun directly in the frame. pretty normal for the size sensor that’s in there. Audio quality… 5/10. cuz when your standing still or walking its good. picks up your voice, depending on the where it is/and the microphone gain settings. on a motorcycle, anything faster than 10mph is just wind noise. really good wind noise at that, no distortion or any sort of harmonic. so be prepared to invest in a way to dub music over the video if you’re really into showing off your adventures. Software. 5/10. Free software, available from their website. The only real function it provides is being able to setup the camera. Programming the hi/lo switch, mic gain, exposure, metering, sharpness, contrast.. other than that its fairly useless unless you really want to participate in Vholdr’s online community. but hey, thats why i have youtube and facebook. so the movies come off the camera really more like accessing a flash drive. The software has rudimentary video editing abilities. in other words, you can cut the beginning and ends off of a video but thats it. just to show the good stuff in the middle. It works good for what it does but thats all it does, you know? Overall? I love it. Its perfect for what it does, its not complicated, and you can stick it to just about anything. The question remains, do you really need 1080p? as a motorcyclist, i deemed quantity over quality and realized in hindsight that being able to record at 720p/30fps and have 30min/gig was more useful than 15min/gig at 1080p/30fps. but then again, i really like the 720p @ 60fps feature too for those short rides where i know i can fit it all on a 16gb card and have that lush video at 60fps. maybe more appropriate for those snow/ski people doing mad tricks and they can playback in nice liquid slow-mo those awesome jumps yeah? just need to buy video editing software to make it all come together.
